If you’ve ever put together a puzzle, you can install your vinyl plank flooring, it’s really simple. You’re going to need a small to medium sized hammer and an Exacto knife as well as a heavy duty floor roller or something else that is heavy.
Prepare your old floor by vacuuming it. You are now ready to install the vinyl planking. Open the package up and remove your flooring. Starting at one end of your room lay the flooring out end to end.
You’ll note that one side of the plan has a groove in it. This side should be facing out so that your next plank can interlock with it.
When you install your second row, make sure to stagger the seams at each end so that your seams aren’t all in a row. This wouldn’t look right nor would your flooring interlock properly.
With your hammer, gently tap the flooring into place so that it interlocks. Do this for your entire row. Now repeat through the remainder of your flooring interlocking each piece and making sure to stagger all of the seams.
When you need a smaller sized piece simply cut it with your Exacto knife and snap it over. It will be fairly easy.
You can install one of these vinyl plank floors easily by yourself or if you prefer, do it with a helper. It’s just like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.
When you’re finished with your installation, go over your flooring with your heavy floor roller. If you don’t have one of these and haven’t rented one, you can use something heavy to go over the floor. Grab all your friends and walk around the floor a few times or drag something heavy on a blanket on your floor.
